Revisiting The Phase Diagram of Au – Cu Alloy at Nanoscales

چکیده
Au – Cu nanoparticles are widely used as catalysts in different chemical reactions. Since knowing the phase diagram of nano-alloys is crucial for effective design nano-catalysts, there have been many efforts to predict size effect on system. However, reported results inconsistent and sometimes contradictory. In this work, a CALPHAD type thermodynamic model was applied recalculate binary alloy at sizes. The show that decreasing particle decreases liquidus solidus temperatures well congruent melting point. It also found by reduction size, composition shifts towards rich side diagram.

متن کاملRevisiting the phase diagram of hard ellipsoids.
In this work, the well-known Frenkel-Mulder phase diagram of hard ellipsoids of revolution [D. Frenkel and B. M. Mulder, Mol. Phys. 55, 1171 (1985)] is revisited by means of replica exchange Monte Carlo simulations. The method provides good sampling of dense systems and so, solid phases can be accessed without the need of imposing a given structure. At high densities, we found plastic solids an...

Based on a review of the current literature, a surface phase diagram is proposed for the submonolayer Au on Sit 111 ) system. Kinetic considerations are reviewed and key surface phase diagram features such as the O < 0.4 ML metastable Sit 11 l )-1~/3 x ~/3 tR30 Au structure and the high temperature Si(11 l )-(V3 x ~/3tR3q'-Au to Sil 1 l 1 )-( 1 x 1 tAu second order phase transition are discusse...
متن کاملCu2O island shape transition during Cu-Au alloy oxidation.
In situ transmission electron microscopy observations of the oxidation of (001) Cu-Au alloys indicate that the Cu2O islands that form undergo a remarkable transformation from an initially compact morphology to a dendritic structure as growth proceeds. Correspondingly, the surface composition becomes nonuniform and the fractal dimension associated with the islands evolves from 2.0 to a stable va...
متن کاملExperimental and Theoretical Studies on Oxidation of Cu-Au Alloy Surfaces: Effect of Bulk Au Concentration
We report results of our experimental and theoretical studies on the oxidation of Cu-Au alloy surfaces, viz., Cu3Au(111), CuAu(111), and Au3Cu(111), using hyperthermal O2 molecular beam (HOMB). We observed strong Au segregation to the top layer of the corresponding clean (111) surfaces. This forms a protective layer that hinders further oxidation into the bulk. The higher the concentration of A...
